Lions Club to Sponsor Boy Scout Fund Drive

Mrs Maud Ellis Dies At Home In Myrtle Point

Edna Maud Ellis aged 50 died at her Myrtle Point home Wednesday. Born March 16 1884 in Cedarville California she was the daughter of James Robert Greene. Survived by three sons J W Ladd Seattle Robert C Ladd Terre Haute and Charles Ellin overseas with the armed forces two brothers R O Greene Napa and Jas R Greene Myrtle Point and four grandchildren.

Myrtle Point FFA grows three thousand plants for Victory Garden

Dean Helpik Resentent reports the Myrtle Point Future Farmers grown through a hotbed program. Three thousand plants including tomatoes cabbage celery Brussels sprouts and cauliflower were distributed to members without charge during the month. Chapter members learned proper soil prep and trade practices while supporting eased food production under chapter advisor Ted Kirch.

Heifer Buying Program Ends June 3 in Coos County

The farm security administration dairy cattle incentive in Coos County ends June 3 after a season that saw 470 calves purchased and shipped to feeding stations in Oregon and neighboring states. Calves 10 days old and dairy bred were bought at Coquille for $10 each, with local dairymen earning about $5,000 as breeders faced delivery and breed challenges.
