A G Walker of Gold Beach Republican candidate for Joint Representative for Coos and Curry counties visited Myrtle Point on Saturday. His platform supports adjusting Rogue River fishing regulations to grant the summer season to recreational fishing and an earlier season for commercial fishermen.

School Clerk Meetings Planned by County Superintendent

County school superintendent W H Wann announced a series of clerk meetings to review records. Sessions are scheduled at Gramermer school Bandon May 32 10 to 12, Junior school Myrtle Point May 23 7 to 4, Coquille high Pelghet May 33 16 to 2, and other locations with teacher examination dates later in June.

Young Democrates Elect Officers In Coquille Meeting

The Young Democratic club of Coos county elected and installed officers at the Coquille hotel on Tuesday. New officers include President Fred Houtter, first vice president George Belloni, second vice president Willem Oerding, secretary Yen Flaxel, treasurer Bernie Andrews, and state committeemen Chris Bensen and Louise Smart. An advisory council was named, and active organization work was to begin under President Hollister. A resolution urged sending a telegram of support to President Roosevelt for his Reconstruction program.

Tuberculin Test Given Wednesday at Local High School

The tuberculin test was administered Wednesday at the high school by Dr. R. H. Mast to about 300 people. Nurses in charge were Mrs. Lela Elrod Mrs. Maud Hooton and Miss Gloria Getz. Those tested are asked to return Friday at 10 p.m. for readings.

The Coquille Choral club directed by Mrs E A Woodyard presented a cantata at the local Methodist church on Wednesday morning. The piece drawn from Ruth chapters one through three featured Naomi Ruth and Boaz with Naomi portrayed by Mrs June Walker, Ruth by Idris Merwin Moller, and Boaz by Frank Alice all of Coquille and Myrtle Point respectively.

Friends Boost Clinton For County Commissioner

A group of supporters sponsors a truck to advertise Jesse D. Clinton for county commissioner. The vehicle will tour most of the county with a high school band aboard, sponsored by the City Transfer, starting from Myrtle Point and visiting Coquille Marshfield and North Bend before returning late in the day.

Myrtle Point 4H Plans Exhibits and Demonstrations

Myrtle Point 4H groups including New Lake Health Club led by Lara Morgan and the Girls Health Club at Cunningham led by Florence Oerding showcased their achievement day displays. The Myrtle Point school featured a large 4H program with sewing and forestry exhibits. The club plans further exhibits and demonstrations for the County Fair and entries in the style revue.

Oregon Jubilee to staged reading of state history pageant

The Southers Oregon Mercet School actors from Ashlend will present a historical pageant Orem con Land of Plenty during Medford’s Oregon wood Jubilee on June 3. Lole Porterpied of Myrtle Point joins the cast as rehearsals begin under Prof. Angus Bowmer. The production traces Oregon statehood with 75 years of statehood noted, using a 6 piece orchestra and enhanced by lighting and loudspeakers for clear understanding.

Powerstown Bridge Reopens After Temporary North Span Move

The Powerstown Bridge, closed Saturday night to Monday noon, is open for cars. The north third sits on a temporary western foundation while traffic detours over the old middle and south spans. Schools were closed Monday to protect crossing children but reopened Tuesday.
