Social Security Club Organized In Myrtle Point
Four Myrtle Point residents formed a local chapter of the National Social Security Club of America at a city hall meeting led by Floyd Ko Dover the national secretary treasurer. Temporary officers were elected James Albee president Vern Stout vice president Craige Hughes secretary treasurer. The group advocated social security reforms including universal benefits age 60, hospital and medical care, and lowering eligibility age to 55 with full benefits as the national body plans to press Congress for action. All interested are invited to join and participate.

Special Top teenage musicians from Myrtle Point union high school join 550 peers from 87 Oregon and Washington high schools for a May festival at Pacific University Forest Grove. A 220 piece band a 100 piece orchestra and a 230 voice choir will perform in a public concert May 10 with a radio broadcast planned for May 17.
