Seventy pioneers gathered Monday at the Presbyterian church parlors for Myrtle Point Woman's Club Pioneer Day. Mrs Henry Schroeder led the program with duets, readings, vocal and instrumental numbers, an address, and prize awards to the oldest pioneers, including R. C Dement and Mrs. Mary Barker. School Board Elects English Instructor William Gurney
The school board elected William Gurney to fill next term for Mrs. Edgar Rickard, who resigned. Powers Boy Drowns In Coquille River
Noberit Harmon 14 stands with his dog on the Coquille River bank near Orchard in Powers when he fell into the water and drowned. Fishermen found his body floating, bruised head from a possible collision with a rock. He was born in Portland on August 13 1919 and is survived by parents Richard and Mrs Harmon and two brothers. Funeral services were held in Portland.
