Verna Knight performed When Queens Ride By at the State Interpretive Reading contest in Corvallis last Thursday and Friday. She advanced from eleven contestants to six finalists, with a Thursday banquet announcing the winners. Minnie Sanders of Dallas won first for The Story of Patsy, Margaret Shepard of Astoria placed second for Gentlemen the King, and Grace Gingrich of Bend placed third for Connor.

Royal Neighbors convene at North Bend gathering
Thirty two Royal Neighbors from Myrtle Point and 132 from the county met in North Bend for an all day convention with Marshfield and North Bend as hostesses. Ida Hamblin state supervisor attended as guest of honor. Initiatory drills and a luncheon and dinner were held. Myrtle Point led initiatory work and a special chartered train carried members from Myrtle Point and nearby areas.

School Board Approves Old Street Grade
The School District No 2 board voted unanimously to accept the old grade of Fourth Street despite concerns from property owners.
