The Coos county court through its forestry department sold county owned timber totaling 380 acres by sealed bids for 23549 dollars. Buyers included Weyerhaeuser Timber Co with 70, 169, and 36 acres totaling 118,? dollars and Jut tus M Swanson of Empire purchasing 120 acres for 6300 dollars. Total receipts exceeded the county minimum bids by 3609 dollars.
Mrs Breuer was selected as Myrtle Point's American Mother candidate for the annual event. The process required recommendations from an educator a business leader and a clergyman. Letters supporting Mrs Breuer came from Frank Henry Henry Schroeder G B Goddard and Rev Wilmer A Briggs. Continued on page ten.
Powers tops county in Red Cross membership drive with a $638.14 tote reported by March 8. Chairman Mrs. Harry Griffin and workers including Mrs. Thomas Brierly and others received praise for a strong effort in reaching the $454 goal and exceeding expectations.
Elaborate preparations for a World’s Fair at Legion Hall in Myrtle Point sponsored by the Business and Professional Women’s Club. The event runs all day Saturday with free admission and evening hours, featuring coffee and sandwiches to raise funds for Oriental scholarships and local projects. Booths showcase trophies from around the world and war service items, with locals invited to contribute artifacts for display. Continued on back page.
Five newborns arrived at hospitals last week in state records. Three girls and two boys born to families in Myrtle Point Coos Bay and Bridge Rt. dates range March 23 to August 25 1950. Hospital notes list parents Truman Hartley Broadbent Edgar Plemmons Cook Melvin Baughman and James Einarsson.

Clarence Strong announces a ham shoot by the Sportsmen's Club at the new trap shooting grounds one mile south of Myrtle Point on Gravel Ford road. The event starts next Sunday, April 2, at 10 a.m. and runs until dark with ammunition provided and box coffee served at lunch. All sportsmen are urged to attend.
