City Sells Bonds To U S National Bank At 4 6621
The city sold bonds to U S National Bank at an effective rate of 4 6621 per con with Security Bank of Coos County at 4 0888 and Pacific National Bank Tacoma at 4 98336 per con. City Administrator Ben Nichols noted a public installation of a new reservice for property outside city limits adjoining the Standard Old plan. Lyons was suspected in trying to have his property annexed to the city bed of Fitch. Property owners have five days to remove vehicles or they will be towed at their expense. Councilman Ed Kirkpatrick criticized spectator conduct at recent Myrtle Point fires and said the firemen’s efforts were hindered. an ordinance governing cages may be invoked in the future.

Rites Held for Young War Victim PFC James C. Tubb Sr
Funeral services were held for PFC James C. Tubb Sr., 18, of Bridge, killed in Vietnam. Interment followed at Norway Cemetery. Born July 31 1961 in Grand Ronde, he attended Myrtle Point High School class of 1970. Survived by parents, grandparent, four brothers and five sisters. Military honors from Ft. Lewis marked the ceremony.

Myrtle Point High School earned a second place tie with Scappoose in the state AA wrestling championships at Oregon State University. Jim Fiore won the 136-pound title with an 18-0 win, Jim Mast captured the heavyweight title, and Jim Layton finished second at 160. Beth Myrtle Point and Scappoose scored for a strong team showing, while Woodburn repeated as champion.

4 H Summer School applications mailed for 1971
Applications for the 1971 4-H Summer School at Oregon State University June 14 to 19 will be mailed to Coos County 4-H members. About 1,800 youths ages 13 and older are expected at the 56th annual event on the Corvallis campus. Coos County plans to send 65 members.

School Board Approves Budget Change for 1971 72
District 41 school board after a Monday hearing adopted a 1.8 million dollar budget for 1971 72. Only board member spouses and Mrs Joe Sewart attended. The board trimmed the tax levy from 9018 235 to 9009 023 and adjusted receipts to reflect a 1 percent revenue factor.

Coos County Seeks Levy Change in School Tax Plan
Voters face approval of a 9525,480 levy outside the six percent limitation with an estimated 15.12 per thousand assessed valuation. Last year outside the limit was 18.10, and county officials note offsets reduce a prior 16.10 levy to 11.01. School trustees may adjust the levy before assessor submission if receipts reach 19,000.
