Myrtle Point approves bids for new library and heating plant
Myrtle Point City Council accepted Harold Grappe of Coos Bay for the library basic construction at 23826 dollars. Rick Plumbing and Heating Co. of Coos Bay won the heating plant bid at 2895 dollars. Construction starts within 10 days with a 69 day time frame. The council also plans repairs to the Scout building using city and other funds.

Policeman Exonerated After Inquest Over Death of Larry Heath
A coroner’s inquest found Officer Claud Wood innocent in the death of 21 year old Larry Dale Heath of Coquille after Heath attacked Wood in a patrol car following a disturbance at Pop’s Place. Heath died of a hemorrhage. a bystander aided Wood in returning him to the car before hospital treatment. Heath, born March 1 1933, lived in Coos county, survived by his widow Melba Bates and his mother Alma Heath with two brothers. Services were held in Klamath Falls with burial in Steamboat Springs Colorado.
