Logging Truck Wreck Halts Salmon Mountain Run
Bud Haggerty drove a heavily loaded logging truck down Salmon mountain in the Eckley district to unload at the railroad in Gaylord when the vehicle ran out of control and toppled the grade. The Syres and McNair logging truck was badly damaged though the driver escaped injury with minor cuts.

Drivers from Coquille and nearby towns report a Sunday evening collision on the Myrtle Point-Norway highway near the Walter Laird ranch. Wilfred Hunt's coupe side-swiped the Lefevre and Mastar vehicles, then caressed Barrett’s car into a ditch. Hunt suffered facial cuts. Jo M Barker returned Tuesday night from a seven weeks stay in the east. He left Myrtle Point the first week in May for Canton Illinois his former home where he visited his only brother D E Barker and other relatives. Barker tended the lodge which he joined in 1904. He was honored shortly before his departure with a surprise birthday party by the Rebekah and Odd Fellows of the city. Barker spoke of crop conditions in the middle west noting burnt fields and poor oat and wheat crops. In Canton gatherings continued with family parties and a basket dinner at John Barker’s country home near Table Grove attended by over 200 relatives.

The Gaylord Woman's club entertained the Powers Woman's club at an annual dinner last Wednesday. Gilbert loses fourth finger in Powers ranch accident
William Gilbert of Gaylord suffered a serious injury last Friday at the Morris ranch in Powers when his hand was caught in a hay derrick cork. He was brought to Mast hospital where doctors determined amputation was necessary, resulting in the loss of his right fourth finger.
