Two blind hikers complete arduous four weekbackpack trek

Two blind hikers recount a four week journey along Highway 42 from Signal Tree Road to Remote Campground. They traveled by Shasta Daylight train from Davis California, then to Eugene Oregon, continuing to Crescent Bay and Gary’s parents as part of a rugged cross country hike.

Myrtle Point High School Honor Roll List Publishes Names

The Myrtle Point High School honor roll for the grading period ending this week lists students across grades from seniors to freshmen. Principal William Patchardsey announced the release and highlighted top students with 4.0 and high marks across multiple categories.

4 H horse show set here this weekend in Myr tle Point

The Buckaroo 4-H Horse Show runs Saturday and Sunday June 23 24 at the fairgrounds in Myrtle Point beginning 9 a m each day. Trophies go to first place and ribbons to second through fifth in divisions. Shows are free to spectators with no 4 H membership required and feature riders from Pee Wee to youth age 8 with ponies and horses competing.

Myrtle Point approves garbage rate hike effective July 1

The Myrtle Point City Council voted Monday night to authorize a rate increase for refuse service. Monthly pickup rises 25 cents from 98.35 to 98.80 and the daily per can rate increases 6 cents.

American Legion Post 38 announces a project to place headstones on graves of deceased veterans across four Myrtle Point area cemeteries. Families with unmarked graves should contact Clarence Ralph at 967 Alder St or call 878 6407. Myrtle Point City reports $86 809 in federal revenue sharing for the period Jan 1 1090 to Jum Revenue sharing.
