A government sponsored community canning effort in Prospect Myrtle Point through Union High School’s Agricultural and Home Economics department aims to preserve Victory garden produce and other foods. The Lions club will host the site with a planning committee seeking a location, boiler, and hoist. costs per can range from 7 to 9 cents with various lot sizes.

Brace Murray Buried Today
The remains of O. B. Brace Murray age about 50 died earlier in the week at Blue River. Final services were held at Norway cemetery after services in Eugene and Camas Valley. Murray was long time principal at Bridge school and later worked as a scaler for Christian Logging Company. Survived by three children Bruce Wilda and another daughter, his father Zach Murray and sister Mrs. Lloyd Garrett of Camas Valley.

Dick Cochran, a Dallas Theological Seminary student from Oregon City, arrived last week and will serve as supply pastor of the Presbyterian church for three months. He preached Sunday to a good audience and will conduct services each Sunday before returning to school about September. Miss Irma Coffield and Mrs Georgia Enright returned Tuesday evening from Portland and Vancouver after attending a state OWAC meeting and visiting relatives. Mrs Fred Lafferty came back from Portland Tuesday after touring the Portland Junior High School Art Exhibit and the Vanport government playgrounds. She has accepted a job as Art Instructor at Coquille Junior High. S. W. Greer left early this week for Madras to take a contract for garbage removal at a civilian air training camp for the next year, with his son Denver assisting.
