Blood Donations Sought In Community Drive

Local bloodmobile coordinator Connie Detlefsen announces a collection at Myrtle Crest Gym on June 10 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Nine area residents recently required blood, with donors urged to help meet ongoing needs and fulfill community responsibility. New donors are especially welcome.

Public votes set today on Myrtle Point tax levy

Voters in Myrtle Point School District 41 vote today on a 1971 72 tax levy proposal. The measure asks 679 707 outside the six per cent limit. Polling places include Myrtle Crest Dora Broadbem Arago and Bridge elementary schools.

Debits for April 1971 across 10 reporting banks in Coos County totaled 965,968,000 up from April 1970. Oregon with 366 banks showed a 4.9 percent rise from March 1971 and a 45 percent rise from April 1970, with totals cited for March and April 1971 and 1970.

Sunset Writers elect Curt Beckham as president

Curt Beckham was chosen president of Sunset Writers at a May 25 meeting in Myrtle Point city hall. The group plans monthly sessions at the hall through summer with Monkey Starr as secretary for a year. Members present included Mrs. Marvin Crosby, Mrs. Walter Tyre, and Bill Palmroth, inviting all Southwestern Oregon writers to join.
