Myrtle Point Chamber Plans Inexpensive Goodwill Caravan Trip

The Myrtle Point Chamber of Commerce board plans a July 24 roundtrip caravan into Nahe and Agness with a boat trip on the Rogue River to Gold Beach and a return by car along the coast. Boats will be chartered, lunch served on request, and reservations via local secretaries. Ellen Schroeder chairs arrangements. The Coos Bay National Bank bought Coos County refunding bonds at 3 percent with premium. Leon Elisha Thompson died at 7 30 m July 12 1938 at the Bond apartments after a long illness and bedrest since Easter due to neurable disease He was 53 and had worked as a photographer with rotogravure in Portland and at logging camps in Coos County He was born in Excelsior Iowa in February 1885 and moved to Oregon in 1908 He leaves a widow Mary Gay Thompson and a daughter Mrs Rogg of San Francisco The funeral is at Schroeder Funeral Home Myrtle Point with burial at Inman Cemetery Elmira near Eugene beside his daughter Charlotte who died in 1913

Fourth Annual Camp for Homemakers Planned August

The fourth annual homemakers camp, a joint Lane and Coos county event, will run from August 2 to 7 at Lake Cleowox three miles south of Florence. Miss Les Lutz and Miss Julia Bennett will direct and assist, with activities including swimming, crafts, nature walks, bird lore, and more.
