Bullet Wound Sends Hotel Clerk To Hospital
David F. Knell age 32 was taken to Belle Knife hospital Coquille Sunday morning with a bullet wound in the abdomen. The wound, attributed to an accident while Knell handled a short-barreled revolver in bed, passed through his abdomen into the hip and required two hours of surgery. He rallied later and is hoped to recover. Knell had lived in the town 11 years and was day clerk at the Myrtle Hotel. His divorced wife Judith and their five year old son reside in Portland.
