Myrtle Point mayor J. M. Myers announces a special council meeting in the chambers to handle routine business and bills. The session will consider buying a $1000 Austin street sweeping machine, rebuilt and large enough for the town’s needs, demonstrated last week. Also on the agenda is the city election Friday to decide if $9 224.78 over the 6 percent limit will be approved to fund the adopted budget. Polls open 8 am to 8 pm daylight time at City Hall.
Divit diggers of Southern Coes county will tee off in a replayed shot tournament at Valley Country Club next Sunday July 8 with a 10 a m start. The event uses full handicap with a 50 cent entry fee and allows one replay on each hole though a second shot must count if no shot is taken on a hole.
Richard Miller of Myrtle Point Oregon purchased one registered Jersey Baronet Volunteer Carrie from Clifford V Frende of North Bend. Jerseys are registered by the national office of the American Jersey Cattle club in Columbus Ohio. The club has kept records on all registered Jerseys since 1908.
Secretary Oscar L. Chapman announced that holders of mining claims on federal public lands in the states and territories must perform their annual assessment work by October 1 this year. The order emphasizes compliance with Public Law provisions signed by the President.
