Severe Coastal Storm Knocks Out Power Across Coast

A major storm along the coast disrupted service in Myrtle Point and surrounding communities. Roads were blocked, wires down, and over 200 locations were isolated for hours. Port Orford suffered about 10000 dollars in mill damage and a boat capsized at the docks. Damaged buildings including a Cooper greenhouse and a large barn near Bandon are noted. Repair crews work days and nights to restore lines. full recovery will take months.

Wagon Road Being Improved in Coos County

Coos county will mobilize equipment and crews on an emergency project for the old Coos Bay Wagon Road. A $15,000 appropriation was approved at last week’s court meeting, Roadmaster Robb to direct county crews, starting with relocating a rock crusher in the Fairview district.

Myrtle Point boys clamped a 83 to 14 victory over North Bend on Saturday with 16 points in the final quarter. Midget team won 7 to 17 as Don Sutphin Edward Brown and others led the lineup. Women Lead Defense Drive To Raise National Budget

Local women from a Women's club launched a house to house drive to support a fifty six billion dollar national defense budget. Twenty volunteers split the town into sections and began Tuesday morning the aim to complete by Friday night.
