After closures due to snow and record river flooding, Myrtle Point area schools resumed Tuesday. Flooding on Coquille River cresting near 45 feet forced evacuations along Reedsford and Catching Creek roads and prompted rescue of several families by Coos Bay volunteers.
The annual Mothers March for the March of Dimes is scheduled for January 28 in Coos County. A door to door drive starts at 7 pm with county chair Mrs. Robert Brown coordinating and area chair Mrs. Delbert Leep in Myrtle Point. Community women are urged to help by contacting the listed numbers.
Southwestern Oregon Community College board plans a meeting Tuesday night January 26 in Myrtle Point High School library. It is the third in a series of outreach meetings across the district outside the Bay Area, and all interested persons are invited.

A public vote on a $320000 bond issue to extend the Myrtle Point water system is scheduled for Tuesday near Jan 26 at City Hall from 8 am to 8 pm. If approved the bond would be repaid over ten years.
