The Myrtle Point community mourns the death of Bees Hansen 70. He served as county assessor from 1890 to 1898 and led local commerce as postmaster and Gravel Ford grocer. A longtime fraternal member, he belonged to Masons Odd Fellows and Eastern Star. Survived by wife Ida and two daughters Sore Metta Rosslow and Florence Andrews. Services are set for Saturday at the Schroeder home.
The L. B. and L. Logging Co crew clears drift from the lower storage dam area after high water. A channel fifty feet wide is cut around an end of the dam. The upper dam also shows a cut. Hembree was born in Iowa September 20 1876 and had lived in the south part of the state for five years. L Hembree and Betsie Williams attended the family in care of arrangements.
Mrs. Lawrence Clinton notes $225 in war bonds bought by the society. A 98 attendance counted at the Townsend clubs caravan in Coquille. Light refreshments and noon to afternoon programs followed. Attendees included C. C. Carter and others. An all day event featured luncheon and group entertainment for girls hosted by Mrs. Freeman and Mrs. Russell Dementae.
A number of local residents were visiting relatives and returning from trips recent days. Mr and Mrs Sterma and Pete Alstein of Bridge returned from a trip to Portland to see their son William Ham on leave from a navy air unit at Corpus Christi Texas and visit their daughter Marjorie in Portland. Mrs V K Landstrom Elien Carver has been visiting with her parents Mr and Mrs Albert Carver of Sitant. Miss Jeanie Miere of Ashland left for her home Saturday from Arass. Ralph Long of Arago was in town on business Saturday.
