New Stove In Library Promises Warmer Reading Room
The library board met Monday evening to discuss improvements including a stove to heat the reading room and provide a wholesome atmosphere for youths and adults. Elmer Russell joined the board replacing Mrs. E C Barker the librarian, bringing optimism from varied library settings. Overdue fines totaled $5.00 with $8.06 from pay books. 428 adults and 90 children borrowed books. 3230 magazines circulated and old issues given away. Officers were elected: Mrs G E Hamilton president, Mrs Belle Whitaker vice president, Mrs Nellie Fearnley secretary and treasurer. A high school conference at the University of Oregon is noted, with Miss Audrey Lundy chaperoning. A Society of Automobile Engineers talk warned against rapid model turnover, praising Ford for stable model policy and interchangeable improvements.
