Myrtle Point Chief Receives 1970 Jaycees Award
Myrtle Point Police Chief Merlyn Hathaway earned the 1970 Distinguished Service Award at a Jaycee dinner at the Colony Restaurant. A Ft. Wayne native and Myrtle Point High School alumnus, Hathaway has spent 20 years in law enforcement and was honored for civic involvement and leadership in Boy Scouts and Civil activities.

Scout Leaders Plan Ore gon Trail Council Show and Training
Leade rs of local Boy Scout Troops and Webelos will join about 200 scouts from six counties for Ore gon Trail Council's largest training event of 1971. The SHOW ANDTELL event takes place Saturday Feb 20 at Camp Baker near Florence starting at 10 30 am with continuous skill sessions and a closing campfire at 3 30 pm. Participants will observe experts perform survival first aid and cooking then practice the skills themselves to bring back to the boys.
