The Dods County Firemen's association plans a meeting at Myrtle Point city hall on Thursday Feb 92 at 8 PM to discuss ventilation as they seek a site for a carpentry workshop. An outside speaker is anticipated, possibly from Portland Firemen.
Rev Barr left for La Verne California for trustee meetings and a regional conference this week. Rev Lorell Biss and four students will lead a program at the Church of the Brethren in Nowte Point on Feb 19. Local social notes mention weddings, visitors, and club meetings at the Myrtle Point area churches.
The marriage of Albert Christensen's daughter and Ernest Smith son of Mrs Tuel of Coquille took place at 2 o clock on February 11 1968. The ceremony featured a decorated stage with blueberry cedar and grape motifs and a blue mist silk crepe gown for the bride. A large guest list from local families attended the Sunday wedding and post ceremony gifts were exchanged. After the ceremony, the couple welcomed guests as they begin their life together.
The Southwestern Opagon FFA par competition at Coos River saw Myrtle Point and Coos River chapters placing high in parliamentary and public speaking events. Officers and judges are listed along with numerous individual contest results in rope work, farm accounting, wool judging, egg grading, seed identification, milk testing, carpentry and soldering.

Myrtle Point Odd Fellows hosted a Monday evening meeting to receive Grand Lodge officers led by Deputy Grand Master J. P. Watts of Oregon City and Grand Master O. F. Steele of Pendleton. County officers included Grand Herald Peter Nielson of Marshfield and District Deputy Fred Scheer of Coquille. Initiatory degrees were conferred on Ben W. Daniels and Lyle Arnold Carver with aid from Coquille and Marshfield teams and Watts and Meele, followed by a social visit with the Rebekah lodge and a busy 44-member session.
Mrs Emma Bond widow of N E Bond sells The Bond Studio to F W Degeberg. The studio moves temporarily to Schneider apartments at 008 Seventh Street. Degeberg offers film development at metropolitan rates with two enlargements per roll and a 30 day service to acquaint locals with the new operation.
Lions club in Marshfield held a meeting at the Myrtle Cafe last Wednesday with Dr. K S Fortune district zone chairman as guest speaker. Eighteen members attended amid stormy weather and illness. six new members were inducted including Harry Howell and Hanley Pi Misa.
A Herald office incident reports Betty Pearson delivering a railroad express package to H J Beers. The package contained a Valentine item and a note about a local Safeway gang, with names including Alyce Whobrey and Dodge, dated February 1940.
Marshfield tiny Bay Pirates defeated Myrtle Point Bobcats 36 to 25 in a Tuesday basketball game. Jim Porter led scoring with 18 points as Marshfield opened strong, then held late.
