The Gravel Ford 4 H Dairy club met at leader Orvus Miller’s home on February 10. President Dick Cook presided. The state vows to retry Jabez Murray Pinney after a hung jury in Watv ict court Coquille. The charge relates to selling beer to minors at Pop's Place in Le Martie Point. Trial date set for February 18 at 10 pm.
Mrs. Arlene Kuntz of Coquille says square dance classes at the Community Building will resume Thursday evening at 8 with registration at 7 15. Participants with yellow cards are urged to bring them.
Austin Dodges and Mrs Theo Clinton with Mr and Mrs Wilfred Laird of Coquille return home after a month in Hawaii. They sailed on the Lauree Queen of the Pacific and visited Maui Oahu Kauai and Pearl Harbor among other islands.
Harold and Mrs Watzling sell their Western Auto store in Myrtle Point to George Rex and Douglas Rex. George will manage with Lee Applegate assisting. the Rex family plans to move to Myrtle Point and build homes. The Wat zlings intend rest and travel, including an extended trip to see America.
The Myrtle Point Bucks beat Bandon 53 48 and shellacked Ophir 60 35 to climb to seven wins and one loss atop the Southern Oregon league. Harvey Lewellen paced scoring in both games with 14 and 19 points. Bandon remains second with six wins and two losses after being defeated twice.
Clell Laird of McMinnville Oregon son of Mrs rereérien completed the first semester of the 1981 82 academic year at Linfield College. He will undertake second semester work starting February 4 and continue.
Red Cross schedules an instructors training conference for Home Care at the Sick with sessions planned for Myrtle Point Coquille and Bandon. Planning participants from Coos Bay include Mrs Theodore Latin and others in nursing services and executive roles. Enrollment aims to include nurses teachers and leaders to extend Red Cross Home Nursing classes throughout the county after March 15.
The Coos-Curry Pioneer and Historical association held its monthly meeting at the Coquille Hotel with 19 attending. Plans for a March 15 luncheon at the Balboa in Empire were proposed to support the museum project and public funding for the history of Coos and Curry counties.
The Myrtle Point Bobcats were routed 79 to 49 by the Marshfield Pirates on Friday night. Pirates used all squad members while Bobcats’ Cunningham led with 12 points and Hammack added 10 as the Pirates built a clear lead.
The Southern Oregon Truckers league and Oregon Timber Transport Operators schedule a safety meeting for Southwestern Oregon truckers in Coquille on Saturday March 1.
