Mining leaders from Curry, Coos, and other counties gathered at the Legion hall in Bandon to press state and national officials for aid. The Southwestern Oregon Minerals association reported on black sand and hard rock mining progress and planned to involve Earl Nixon in Washington, with efforts aimed at the Metals Reserve corporation and the RFC. Power Failure From Myrtle Point Car Crash
A car crash at the Dal King place three miles below Myrtle Point knocked out the power line for three hours on Wednesday afternoon. Floyd Stevens, a Baker, drove the coupe through a pole, the vehicle ending in a pig pen. Stevens was treated for minor injuries and released. Roy Miller and crew repaired the line after equipment from Marshfield arrived.
