Budget meetings begin at 8 pm with district superintendent Joe Stewart announcing a hearing in the high school library. The coming year’s budget includes raises for principals in Arago Broadbent Dora and a district wide elementary supervisor and cafeteria staff.
The School District 41 board approved a ten month option at 1500 with 18000 total price for the Arthur L Wise property across from the weighing scales and Standard Oil. They may move current owners within six months and set rental terms.
City council met in a newly decorated city hall chamber with ten new chairs for officials. The manager reported service increases and the library board asked downtown street corners be clearly painted to prohibit parking. Enforced two hour downtown parking and a 50 foot access to a Cedar and K street lot was approved. Leep company to buy a 30 foot right of way for River road relocation.
Southwestern Oregon College's School of Nursing was recently accredited by the Oregon State system. applicants are urged to apply for the 068-06 session and contact the college in North Bend at 756-41231 for details.
Elementary math classes for parents attract about 180 attendees last Monday as they clash with a Willamette University concert in Coos Bay and a city council meeting. The third class in the series on modern methods for next year’s elementary schools is at Myrtle Crest School at 7:30 p.m.
County Extension Agent Fred Hagelstein reports about 10 000 acres of pasture in Coos County coated with silt from the Christmas week flood. Dairy and livestock operators face critical feed shortages through the year as oats costs rise and pasture losses mount. Carl Holland Jr., local fire manager of the County Agricultural Stabilization program notes the impact on feed and pasture amid ongoing recovery efforts.
The budget of 699000 for Pacific Power and Light targets scheduled maintenance and construction work in 1965. The plan focuses on firming infrastructure and improving service capacity through ongoing projects and anticipated repairs.
