Bloodmobile misses quota in Myrtle Point drive

Myrtle Point failed to meet its goal by 30 pints on Monday as the Bloodmobile collected 45 pints. Coqure outdid Myrtle Point with 100 pints while Rotary and Tions competed, and Mrs Jack Fills earned a two gallon pin with Frank Mel Irani reaching three gallons. Twenty four workers aided the Bloodmobile aiding the Viet Nam effort.

PP and L open house today with a civic meeting to follow. Elks kitchen will open Saturday February 4 with dinners and the annual rat feed set for Sunday February 5 at 2:00 PM with menu items described and noted attendees.

At the January 25 meeting the board discussed raises for classified and certified staff in district 410. Classified staff sought a ten percent raise on all routes. maintenance and activity staff proposed hourly increases. The board offered a $5,800 base with full insurance for teachers after negotiations.

Ports Hold Joint Meeting Between Coquille and Bandon Ports

Port commissioners from Coquille and Bandon met at Myrtle Hotel on Wednesday January 31 to discuss debris problems from the December flood and river edge logging. Present were Coquille leaders Detefsen Laird Whitberger Ralph. Bandon leaders Eyes Evens Kronenburg Sheedy Hull. They planned unified action with public support and letters to legislators, inviting agencies including Game and Fish, Forest Services, and Corps of Engineers to future meetings.

Ground Hog Feed at Bridge School Saturday Evening

The Ground Hog Feed returns on February 4 from 5 30 p m to 8 00 p m in Bridge school cafeteria. All you can eat pancakes sausage and eggs priced for adults and children with preschoolers free. Funds support the T P O scholarships Christmas candy and other extras for the children.

Mothers March of Dimes Drives Raises Funds

The Mothers March of Dimes netted about 150 dollars in the Jan 30 drive led by chairman Mrs. Bob Haug. Twenty mothers canvassed the city for donations and county chairmen report approximately 2900 dollars collected by the group. Mrs. Haug thanks the mothers for their help.
