Pioneer T. M. Hermann Dies at Broadbent Funeral Held

T. M. Hermann an early Coos County settler died Thursday evening at his son George’s Broadbent home aged 83 years. Born January 8 1845 in Allegany Maryland he came west as a youth and settled in the area. He leaves five sons and four daughters and numerous grandchildren. The funeral was Sunday at the family cemetery in Broadbent with Elder C. H Barklow and the Myrtle Point Grand Army post assisting.

Almas Mack Arnold Veteran of Myrtle Point Dies

Almas Mack Arnold died at his Myrtle Point home after a week with bronchitis and pneumonia. He served in Co E First Connecticut Cavalry from 1862 to 1866 and was a longtime town character who kept up with local affairs. Arnold, born August 18 18xx in Knoxville Tennessee, married Catherine Dolan in 1881 and lived in Baker City before moving to Cope county.

Funeral services for Myrtle Point residents set Monday

The Southern Pacific ran a special mail train to Powers to serve the region after a bridge south of Yellow Creek was washed out by last night’s storm. Auto buses ferried mail from Marshfeld to Powers, as the train provided the sole passage today.
