Coos and Curry counties in Oregon achieve modified accredited status for bovine tuberculosis after testing of cattle. No reactors found in Coos. ten reactors in Curry among nearly 3000 cattle. Council credits federal and state officials and veterinarians for the program begun in May in Coos and completed in Curry by December.
The Aremen will distribute Christmas gifts next Wednesday at 3 PM at the community Christmas tree on Fourth and Spruce streets. Children up to 14 will receive a present. If it rains, distribution moves to City Hall. Local American Legion decorated the tree. the fire department leads the event with a short program.
Elmer E. Miller, a renowned southwestern Oregon predator hunter for the U S biological survey in Curry County, was fatally shot during a bear hunt near Siaklyous on Tuesday morning. His uncle William Wridge and Miller’s dog were involved. Wridge’s shot glanced and struck Miller in the hip. Miller died after medical aid reached the party and transported him to a settlement.
Rev C C Hulet reports he and Mrs Hulet arrived home from their eastern trip December 6 in Albany Oregon. Mrs Hulet caught a cold in California and upon return has been critically ill with bronchial pneumonia requiring a trained nurse and preventing visitors. A note from Myrtle Point friends would be appreciated.
Williams and two friends were returning from Coquille Monday night when their Ford sedan failed to sidestep a glare from an oncoming car. The vehicle rolled over, front glass shattered, top frame badly damaged, and towed to L. H. Pearce garage. No injuries reported.
The Myrtle Point junior high boys host Bandon at the Myrtle Point school tomorrow evening. Tip time is 7 30 to help the visitors travel home early. Myrtle Point has been undefeated this season and the anticipated game is expected to be close.
County agent R M Knox visited Myrtle Point to organize intensified 4 H club activities for boys and girls. He aims to hold a pep program and arrange a moving picture show of club work, coordinating with teachers and the chamber of commerce.
Lovers of the dance are urged to attend the volunteer fire department event at Oaks pavilion on Christmas night. A six piece orchestra will provide music. L L Graham of the Southern Pacific was in town Tuesday from Eugene and will spend Christmas in Spokane and Puget Sound, hoping for a business revival after the new year.

Secretary of the Roseburg chamber of commerce Mr Harding visited Myrtle Point on Tuesday to rally local business interest for a proposed soldiers home in Roseburg. The plan, started in Roseburg, faces competition from other towns in Douglas County. The Herald notes Roseburg’s mild climate as a key advantage and expects broad Coos County backing to secure the home for Roseburg.
A large audience enjoyed a yearly junior high operetta in the school auditorium. Dolls danced and sang as clowns and teddy bears appeared, with Miss Charlotte Brosius directing. The packed house praised the colorful costumes and lively performances.

A letter from Mrs. Amen Bledsoe of Portland reports the death of Shelf Bledsoe after a recent automobile accident near Thanksgiving. He was stricken suddenly and remained unconscious for hours before passing, with the cause of death still considered undetermined.
