Lions Theater Party With Santa Slated This Saturday

The Lions club hosts a 1 p m theater party featuring Lassie film viewing and a Santa visit for all community children. Peter Hemec heads the committee with Elvin Murray Jim Myers C L Van Foseen Ray Collier and Ross Pinkley coordinating bag stuffing at Mollers to distribute nuts candy and oranges. Santa also plans stops at the hospital and Pioneer House Saturday afternoon.

Christmas Concert Planned by Myrtle Point High Vocal and Instrumental Groups

Myrtle Point high school vocal and instrumental departments present their annual Christmas concert during the December 22 PTSA meeting in the high school cafeteria. Directors Rose Mary Kronquist Les Simons and Robert Zimbleman lead fresh man chorus octet triple trio and choir with selections like Carol of the Drum White Snows of Winter Do You Hear What I Hear God Rest You Merry Gentlemen and O Come Emmanuel. Pat Cunningham narrates Twas the Night Before Christmas and the chorus and band perform a final group number.

City Hikes Taxi Fares and Fees

City Manager Ben Nichols announced a fare increase to 75 cents per trip and 10 cents for each added passenger. The council also approved a $10 per cab annual general tax fee and a $20 per year operation license.

School Lunch Holiday Fete Is Scheduled

Special holiday luncheons will be served to all children in the school district on Wednesday. Pupils will be transported to Myrtle Crest for lunch and offered ham turkey, celery sticks, rolls, fruit cake and milk.

Postal Boxes Now Have Keys and New City Street

The post office replaces combination locks with keyed locks for mailboxes. City council orders relocation of River Road through Leep's Mill yard to create a dedicated street behind the mill for area residents. A 3 foot right of way will be acquired for the new street.
