The Myrtle Point Sportsmen's club announces its annual local trap shoot next Sunday on the grounds starting at 10 a.m. and lasting into the evening. Prizes include turkeys hams and bacons for all shooter classes. Ammunition and eats on site. everybody invited to participate.
The regular Lions meeting scheduled for tonight is postponed to next Wednesday at 7 PM. The annual Lions Christmas stag party will follow, held at the same time and venue.
The Maple Primary school will stage Book of Christmas Songs in dialogue and song. The program takes place in the school auditorium on Friday at 1 o clock and the public is invited.
Word has been received that Frank May age 52 formerly of Myrtle Point and now of Condon Oregon died in a hospital there last Wednesday from injuries after a tractor was struck by a locomotive Funeral services were held last Saturday Survivors include his widow Alice of Condon two daughters and a son Frank Jr in the service Mr May was a resident here and worked for Wallace Dement's stock ranch.
The First Presbyterian Sunday school will present a Christmas program this Sunday evening at 7:00. Children of all ages from nursery up will participate in an orig inal, Christ centered program. Afterward the usual Sunday school treat will be served and the new church addition will be open for viewing.
Bridge Community Church sponsors a Christmas cantata in the school gymnasium next Sunday evening at 8 o clock. The program features a 14 voice choir and a 26 member pantomime cast acting out the Christmas story in harmony with the music. Mrs Everett Webber is leading the church invites everyone to attend and bring children.
The Methodist church Sunday school will present a Christmas program Sunday night December 20 at 7 30 p m. The program features recitation and song for all ages from tiny tots to beginners and primary classes. Superintendent Dean Bramon announces class parties will be held this week and next.
The Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints announces its annual Christmas program. The event will be held on Tuesday, December 22, and all are invited to attend.
The Church of the Brethren hosts a Christmas program with church school at 10 a m led by Miss Esther Wolff, morning worship featuring a Christmas sermon, and a 7 30 evening pageantry of the Christmas story plus a candle lighting service. White gifts for the needy and missionary offerings are featured.
The Lutheran church schedules a children's Christmas service on Christmas Eve at 7 p m in the chapel above the post office. Forty Sunday school children directed by Arlene Heins perform the Come and See tab leau. Gifts will be given to each child and two Christmas morning services are planned at 11 a m with special music by the girls quartet Betty Meyer Pegsy Otsy Meyer and Alice Hammer.

Santa Claus will visit Myrtle Point next Saturday from 10 am to 12 noon and again at 2 pm for the Lions Club Kids Christmas party at the Hiland theatre. Children 12 and under are invited to the downtown meet and the movie, with clothing donations encouraged for Korea relief.

The Hiland Theatre in Myrtle Point upgrades interior with damask wall coverings and a curved Radiant Multi-fleet Panoramic screen. George Friend of the B F Shearer Co installs the new screen and lenses while Less Smith’s crew completes redecorating. The program ends Saturday with Mitz ie Gaynor in The I Don t Care Girl slated as first film on the new setup.
Over 200 parents and friends attend the joint achievement program of Broadbent and Myrtle Point 4-H clubs at Myrtle Point high school. Members earned pins and cards from Ted of First National Bank of Portland Coquille branch as clubs showcased songs dances and comedy acts.

At a Monday meeting the Oregon sportsmen's club voted to join statewide efforts to obtain 37 000 signatures to place a ballot measure closing all coastal streams to commercial fishing except the Columbia river. Tom Forest outlined the plan and county organizers and officers were elected including Jo Sayer as president and Harold Watzling as secretary.
Verne Estelle, vice president of the Southern Ore on Truckers League, announces a meeting of log and lumber truck operators at the Dew Valley club four miles south of Bandon on Friday December 18. A pot luck dinner at 7 p m precedes a business session with important matters for all truckers and their families and friends.
The Myrtle Point American Legion announces its annual stag Christmas party at the Myrtle Hotel private room on Tuesday evening December 22 from 1:30 to 7:30. All ex-service men are invited regardless of Legion membership.
Mr and Mrs E C Barker and Mr and Mrs T G Sumertin drove to Bandon Sunday afternoon after a remote fire killed two babies.
Myrtle Point Bobcats led 15 to 6 after one quarter and 40 to 37 by the end of the third, but lost a nerve jangling see saw game to Bandon 52 to 50. Tigers edged ahead late to claim the win in a pair of exciting matchups.
