A run away car slipped its brakes in the 1100 block on Spruce Saturday night crashing through the street school grounds fence and yard then into Dean Brown’s garage. The car had been parked at 1129 Spruce at Don Troxell’s home and caused light damage given the late hour.

Four-Year-Old Injured by Bicycle Near Home
Julie Ann Francis, four, daughter of Mr and Mrs Ritchie Francis of 1601 Maple Street, was hit by a girl on a bicycle while playing in front of her home yesterday afternoon. She suffered a broken leg, was taken inside the Francis home, and is in a cast with little pain and doing okay.

Floyd Hall Dies in Sleep After Long Newspaper Career
Floyd Hall, longtime Canby Herald owner and publisher, died in his sleep. Born in Meridian Idaho he spent his life in the newspaper business with ties to Toledo Medford Buell Idaho Myrtle Point and Canby Herald. Surviving are his wife Esther daughters and son Elbert Floyd Hall Jr. and several siblings. He served in World War I and was active in Masonic Elks and the Methodist church. Interment at Zion Cemetery in Canby followed graveside services conducted by Rev Loomis.
