Judges announced for Coos County Fair events
The 1973 Coos County fair judging line up was released with dates Aug 13 to Aug 19. The Coastal Campground Committee will hold public meetings at Tillamook Victory House on Aug 7 at 7 30 p m and Newport City Hall on Aug 8 at 10 a m to discuss problems between private campground operators and the State Parks program. The six member ad hoc panel includes two representatives each from the Oregon Coast Association, the State Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, and the Travel Advisory Committee.

Health Fair comes to Powers with three day program
A United Presbyterian Church of Idaho team brings a three day Health Fair to Moose Hall Powers starting Monday August 6. Activities include a bicycle clinic safety session by Powers Police Chief Rathbun pap tests from the cancer mobile unit social security information retired citizens day and heart disease literature. Clowns movies puppet shows and health career info will engage children and youths each morning and evenings will feature health topics and scholarships with a free event under Oregon State Health Division and County Health Department guidance.

Myrtle Point High School band director Les Simons announced rehearsals begin Monday, August 6, in the high school music room for the annual Sumner Youth Based. The program features the Gegenheim Konzert Band, Chet and the CB Ranchers, and Marionette shows by Mrs. Norman Wicks. Activities include Ballon animal tieing, Fair greetings, and a Diaper Derby plus 4-H and FFA Most Glamorous Cow Contest.

Bank debits rise in Coos County June 1973 report
The University of Oregon Bureau of Business and Economic Research notes Coos County eleven banks showed higher debits in June 1973 compared with June 1978. Total debits reached 74,490,000 in June 1973, down from 75,690,000 in May 1973 and 62,? in June 1972. Oregon reported 42 banks with a 3.6 percent decline in June 1973 versus May 1978 and a 23.7 percent rise in June. Mobile chest X-ray screening will be offered August 9 at 3 pm to 4 pm at the LWA Hall Coos Bay and August 10 at the health department courthouse Coquille noon.
