First grade registration set Friday in Myrtle Point district

First grade registration for Myrtle Point Schools District 41 occurs Friday April 28 in all district schools with first grade classes. Parents must register children six by November 15 1972 and provide a birth certificate or proof of birth. Maple Primary hosts visits 1:90 to 2:30 p.m. for registering children and mothers.

Coos County Budget Hearings Slated in Coquille

County budget hearings set for May 1 through May 5 at the Coquille courthouse outline schedules for departments including District Attorney Planning Forestry District Court Parks Office Road Purchasing Sheriff Tax Health Sanitation Family Service Juvenile Veterans Clerk Surveyor Treasurer Printing Dog Control Extension Service County Commissioners and Circuit Court with times listed for each item and department.

Stockmen to meet in Coquille with NZ professor

Visiting New Zealand professor Neil Gow will speak at the Coos County Livestock Association annual meeting in Coquille starting at 8 p.m. The event, chaired by John Isenhart, will discuss livestock and dairy operations in New Zealand. Lamb market pools dates for 1972 are tentatively set for June 20 21 July 11 12 and August 22 23. Officers will be elected and Southwestern Oregon livestockmen are invited. Coffee and donuts will follow.

Jaycees Install New Myrtle Point Officers at Banquet

Jaycees installed Bill Eppler as president of the Myrtle Point Jaycees, replacing Tom Lea. New officers include John Link vice president Don Bradford secretary Red Egil treasurer Bill Jones director and Tom Lee state director. Special awards went to John Link and Bill Eppler. A total of 24 Jaycees wives and guests attended with entertainment by the Arago Quartet.

City Levy Vote Scheduled for Myrtle Point

Public vote on a proposed 1978 City of Myrtle Point tax levy exceeds the six per cent limit by $73,702 and is set for Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at city hall. If approved, the levy will be $33,396 greater than the current fiscal year.

4-H Beef Club drives up $25 in fundraiser efforts

The Arago 4-H Beef Club completed a roadside drive between Arago Myrtle Point and Arago Lampe Creek. Participants included Bennie Lillie Mike Chuck and Tommy Thurman Denise and Glen Olson Dan and Sirlene Tarno Roberta and Steven Wilson Nancy Berkley and leaders Mr and Mrs Les Barkely. A total of $85 was raised from bottles and donations.

District 41 to vote May 1 on budget exceedance and board elections

Voters will decide for District 41 on May 1 whether to exceed the 6 per cent levy limit with a proposed outside levy of 853 006 19 in the 1978 73 budget and elect board members from Zones 4 5 and 6. Incumbent Tom Coffman Delores Haug and Del bert Leep seek seats. Polls run 9 a m to 8 p m at five schools.

Afternoon mail route cut in Myrtle Point starting April 29

Postmaster Milton Schroeder announced that the Coos Bay Myrtle Point mail delivery reaching about 2 30 p m will be eliminated due to minimal remaining mail. The Myrtle Point office will rely on a single daily dispatch at 5 20 p m with mail closing at 5 p m.

Coos County Sixth Grade Forestry Tour Dates Set

David Keir tour coordinator says the Coos County sixth grade forestry tour will run May 3 4 and 5 with all county school districts participating. The field trip teaches natural resources and conservation at Beaver Hill forest site each year.
