The Red Cross war fund drive ran March 1 to a list end and exceeded county and Myrtle Point targets. Myrtle Point totals reached 5225. The Coos County quota was 30500 with contributions 43463. Local clubs led by Rotary’s Henry A Schroeder praised community effort across Sitkum Arago Broadbent Norway and Hiland theatre among others.

Farmers to Receive Lime Under 1945 Conservation Program
The state committee announces four limestone plants approved to supply up to 99 000 tons of lime for Oregon farmers under the 1945 conservation program. Distribution will be 8700 tons monthly, hailed as the largest limestone supply in years by John Shepherd of Scio.

Lime program aids Oregon farms with bulk deliveries
The state committee reports about 26 000 tons of lime applied to Oregon farmlands under the program. Limestone is distributed through county AAA committees as conservation materials in lieu of payments earned under the conservation practice program. The payment rate is 80 percent of bulk lime cost delivered to the farm, usually about 5 dollars per ton, with farmers paying transportation from the plant to the farm.

Mrs. Lillie Perry Dies at Home in Norway
Mrs. Lillie Perry aged 66 died suddenly Saturday at her Sixth and Harris residence after recent illness. She was born January 11, 1875 near Norway, daughter of Richard and Mrs. Haughton. Survived by son Jack Perry Blue River and daughter Golda Perry Portland, two grandchildren, mother Ritchie Haughton Norway, sister Mabel Barklow. Final rites held Tuesday at Schroeder mortuary with Latter Day Saints pastor officiating. interment in Norway cemetery.
