Gene Ussery Off Critical List After Accidental Play
Gene Ussery the 14 year old son of Mr and Mrs Gene Ussery survived a near hanging on Friday March 27 at his home and was moved to Mast hospital where he was listed critical then improved to serious and later off the critical list by Monday morning. Mrs Ussery and neighbors aided the boy until help arrived and the family expressed gratitude for the support received from the community.

Passing of Myrtle Point resident Bert Pearson at 70
Bert Pearson longtime city official and former city marshal and street and water superintendent died March 31 at age 70. Born in Bay City Michigan in Sept 1904 he served civic duty across decades and spent time at the Santiago Cuba naval station in 1919. Survived by wife two daughters and 11 grandchildren two great grandchildren with arrangements by Schroeder Funeral Home pending.
