Birthday Gift Sent to Mrs E English in 1915

Mrs English celebrated her 65th birthday on September 13 1915 and now lives with her brother A L Humphrey at North Powers. Neighbors organized a fund to buy a fine rocking chair presented to her with thanks to Mesdames Gimble Lewis Moore Keeney Harrington Hethington Leatherwood Cross Varney Williams Walker Bishop Smith Shull Engbleon Straw and Misses Straw Lewis. The gift was announced via the Enterprise and Mrs English publicly thanks the ladies for their thoughtfulness.

Farm animals to be shown at Exposition in Oregon exhibit

Oregon Building at the Panama-Pacific Exposition announces a two month livestock showcase from October 1 to November 28. Horses, cattle, sheep, goats, swine, poultry and pets will be exhibited with substantial prize money and trophies from breed associations and state commissions totaling about 440 557 dollars. A 3 000 pound steer from Klamath County may headline the Oregon display with headquarters in the game pavilion.

The SupLy, a U S naval station ship, carried 13 bodies from submarine F-4 to San Francisco from Honolulu. Four identified remains include George T. Ashcroft Los Angeles Ivan L. Mahan Lima Ohio Charles H. Wells Norfolk Virginia and Frank N. Herzog Salt Lake City Utah.

Teddy Baxter Found Dead In Marshfield Home

Geo E Baxter known as Ted Baxter was found dead with a self inflicted rifle wound in his Marshfield room on Commercial Avenue. He had moved from Coquille after 12 years in the liquor business and left behind his mother Mrs Linnie Baxter, sister Mrs James Laird, and brothers Sal and Charles Baxter. His death is attributed to despondency over a five year separation from his wife. He was born March 3 1874 in Fair Haven California and was 41.

Funeral Monday at Go guille eat was conducted by Rev Thomas Barklow of the Church of the Brethren with the fire service in attendance, marking the largest service held in the city in several years.

The Rowland Prairie station on the Smith Powers Logging South Fork railroad is renamed Gayland to avoid confusion with another Rowland station on the Oregon Division of Southern Pacific. Southern Pacific now handles freight and passenger business on the Smith Powers line.

Road Work Progressing in Middle Fork District

Supervisor P. W. Laird reports active crews regrading and surfacing the Middle Fork road from Chandler place to Garret ranch with nine foot wide water bound macadam. Rock from the local crusher is laid twelve inches deep, promising the best highway yet in the district. Laird also moved graders to improve the road to the North Fork bridge and plans to surface toward the bridge with South Fork gravel.

Runaway Team Injures Schroeder Family Near Stringtown

Saturday near Stringtown, a driven team bolted north of the cross roads by the Albert Volkmar residence. Mrs Schroeder and their daughter were thrown from the wagon when a strand broke. Mr Schroeder and Measehonter suffered sprains and cuts but no bones were broken. Dr Johnson conveyed the injured to town. all were expected to recover soon.
