Sinking of the Japanese battleship Mikasa
The Japanese battleship Mikasa sank after a midnight blaze that reached the after magazine and exploded. Nearly every man aboard perished, including detachments from rescuing ships. Mikasa, built in Barrow England and launched in 1902, displaced 15 200 tons with 18 knot speed and a large 12 inch and mixed gun armament.
