A week of fires hits the region from Bandon to Myrtle Point and Roseburg. Losses include $25,000 in Roseburg and a $1,600 blaze at Beaver Hill, with Myrtle Point suffering $500 while a passenger engine sparks set a barn on fire. Fire brigades fought back as water pressure weakened by old pipes hindered efforts.
