Post office quarters to be erected at Myrtle Point

The local post office project moves forward as E J Schneider’s furniture proposal was accepted. Construction begins immediately with excavation and foundation on the west side of the street between Maple and Spruce, aiming for completion by early December. building will be one story, 26 by 55 feet with a 25 by 40 main room and a 10 by 35 rear fuel and wash room.

Prosecution Opinion Rules on Drugstore Alcohol Sales

Attorney General Brown issues directives at request of district attorneys covering drugstore operations. Provisions require bonds for non pharmacist owners, sanction pharmacist led sales of alcohol, and limit prescriptions for intoxicants effective January 1 1916. Physicians may administer alcohol when medicinally necessary but cannot sell liquor. carriers may supply limited quantities.

Wilson Dominates Lambert In Four Falls At Pioneer Theatre

Jim Wilson defeated Lambert in four bouts lasting about an hour at the Pioneer Theatre in Powers. Wilson won each match with hammerlocks, the first fall in 29 minutes, second in 10, and two more around nine minutes each. Spectator Fred Spires of O A C praised the display as one of the finest athletics exhibitions seen in Coos county.

Oregon land grant conference date fixed by governor

Governor Withycombe fixed November 18 as the tentative date for a conference between Southern Pacific Railroad representatives and a state committee to discuss opening lands of the land grant for settlement. A committee was set to confer with the railroad, including W. S. Vawter and I. E. Bean, among others, to pursue a compromise.
