Washington announces a new contract with W. H. Pease for Coos and Curry county mail service. After Oct 31 the Roseburg to Roseburg Myrtle Point route replaces Roseburg Roseburg Coos Bay. seven daily deliveries begin Nov 1. Schedule shifts include 6 am departures and 7:30 pm mail closings in Myrtle Point.

The couple returned to Roseburg by private conveyance and began housekeeping at the Leep house Cedar and Sixth. A Portland contingent attended. The bride wore white satin with lace and orange blossoms in a tulle veil. Best man was Dr M W Forrest. bridesmaids from the Wike-Wike club wore lingerie gowns. A reception followed at Mayor Smith’s home, before the couple departed on a southern honeymoon train.

Miss Lillian Winnifred Overton wed Arthur R. Bennett of Gravel Ford on Wednesday October 13 at 8 PM at the home of the bride in Merlin with Miss Mary Junanita Overton as maid of honor and Robert R. Bennett as best man. Rev. W L Black officiated beneath ivy ferns and roses. The bride wore a cream gown and carried Bride rosés. A bountiful supper followed and the couple left for Coos county to begin their life together.

Purdy Plans Oakland & Tidewater Line Start by Year’s End
W. W. Purdy, chief engineer and manager, says actual construction on the Oakland and Tidewater electric line will begin about the first of the year and be completed within 18 months after starting. He has been on the Coos Bay end and is arranging for terminals and rights of way in this county. The Coquille Sentinel notes Coquille valley grain success and reports oats shipped to Portland, with 32 tons from H. L. Stephens on 38 acres yielding 4,300 bushels, 9 acres at 135 bushels per acre.
