Myrtle Point Corn Contest Draws Nearly One Hundred Exhibits
County Agriculturist J. L. Smith directs the Myrtle Point section show at the Hermann Building with 90 to 100 displays across ten ear, bushel, and yield divisions. Prizes include gold, rockers, flour, and subscriptions as judges discuss corn growing and share prizes with exhibitors from Bridge, Gravel Ford, and other Coos County locales. The best ear prize offers a $5 cash award for the top ear across the county. The event advances to Coquille and Marshfield for regional judging before a final display back in Coquille during the Corn Carnival weekend.

The Myrtle Point city council directed City Attorney Giles to file Recorder's Court proceedings to collect the street improvement lien on two corner lots at First and Maple streets, owned by E. A. Beckett of Coquille. This is the first such foreclosure in the town's history.
