Not Guilty Verdict in Oregon Murder Case
The Oregon case of Goldie Bestcott charged with the murder of Charles Murray at Marshfield last December went to the jury and returned a not guilty verdict after twenty three and a half hours. Seven ballots were recorded with mixed votes for acquittal manslaughter and second degree murder.

They planned hosting of State University President Campbell, a Gravenstein apple day in Coos county, support for Owens health department bill, and Fourth of July activities with the fair association for visiting guests.

Traveling Hen Demonstrates Good Laying Compared to Poor Layers
Oregon Agricultural College in Corvallis hosted a poultry car tour showcasing two hens, a barred rock and a white leghorn, to compare strong layers with poor ones. The exhibit traveled to 11 towns and cities, reaching about 11,000 people, with 24 more stops planned. The good layers laid daily throughout the tour, while the poor layers produced no eggs despite equal care and feed.

Bridge Horticultural Society formed with officers named
The Bridge section orchardists organized the Bridge Horticultural Society last Saturday afternoon. Officers elected for the year are Geo. W. Star president O. E. Hill vice president A. O. Hooton secretary and J. P. Easter treasurer. A committee on constitution and by laws was named. Regular meetings set for the first Saturday of each month at 2:00 pm at Bridge school. The next meeting May 4 will plan visits by A. H. Corson and professors from Medford and Corvallis. The society joined the State Horticultural Society. County Fruit Inspector P. M. Hall Lewis spoke from Marshfield. Registration of voters totals 131,880 with county by county breakdowns. C. A. Smith Lumber Co. announces a pulp mill will be built near their plant to utilize spruce and Oregon fir after turpentine removal. bay water will be filtered to supply the process. The project promises large employment and uses mill refuse as feedstock.

An invitation note invites the Myrtle Point School pupils to close their village school with an old fashioned performance at Benson's hall on Saturday night May 4 1912. Proceeds benefit the school with ladies asked to bring a lunch basket for two and admission priced 25 cents for ladies and 2 bits for others. The program includes old time songs recitations and a basket social from 8 30 to 11 00 p m.

Curry County pioneer Margaret Cunniff dies at 91
Margaret Cunniff oldest Gold Beach resident for over fifty five years died April 19 at her daughter A S Miller home. Born in Ireland in 1828 she married Dennis Cunniff in 1885 and settled in Gold Beach two years later. Burial was at Gold Beach Cemetery with Rev Father Kevney officiating. Survived by son Dennis Cunnitt county surveyor and two daughters Mrs John M Howell and Mrs A S Miller.
