In Coquille on a rural North Fork ranch a dispute over hay led to a gunfight between C. E. Michael and Hobson. Michael, crippled, fired five shots wounding Hobson’s horse and forearm. Michael was bound over to the grand jury with $1,000 bonds posted by R. H. Mast and F. R. Shores.

Uncle Harry Grady Dead at Myrtle Point Hotel
Grandpa Harry Grady died last Friday at the Myrtle Point Hotel aged ninety years, eleven months and nine days. Born in New York City on April 1 1825, he served in the navy and came to San Francisco about 1847. He settled in Coos County in 1859 on a homestead later developed into the firm near Norway. Survived by a daughter Mrs. Frank Nelson of Marshfield, funeral held last Saturday with Elder Thos. Barklow officiating, interment in Norway cemetery.

Joseph Noyes died at the Club Cafe rooms after months of illness, last Saturday. Born in Ohio in September 1847, he enlisted in August 1864 and served in Company A of the 50th New York, taking part in Sherman's march to the sea. He moved to Coos County in 1873 with the Jas. Matheny family and lived there, aside from a year at Sawtelle Old Soldiers' Home. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon under the local G A R Post with Elder Thos Barklow assisting at the grave.
