Mishap near Oak school house injures Breuers in runaway

Mr and Mrs Sam Breuer suffered a serious runaway accident on the Middle Fork after a young horse balked at an annual school meeting drive. Elder F J Chatburn and Arthur Baker aided by steering the team to safety, sparing Mrs Breuer from worse injury. Drs Johnson and Forrest treated the couple at Brack home before morning.

Death of J C Royer After Tree Fell

Details arrive of J C Royer death while cutting a tree 16 to 18 inches in diameter. His son helped him as they worked on their knees. a limb stub struck, tipping the trunk onto his back. He died about ninety minutes after the accident from internal injuries. Mrs Royer and the children will move to Myrtle Point with a cash buyer already found.

Leg Broken in Hartley Road Camp Accident

James Benham, longtime Fairview resident, sustained a severe leg fracture at a Hartley road camp a mile and a half from Fairview on Wednesday. A double tree struck his lower leg, breaking both bones and tearing flesh. Dr Stemmler and Dr Forrest treated and reduced the fracture, described as among the worst he ever faced.

Train Derailment Near Coquille Delays Marshfield Ride

An incoming Marshfield passenger train was delayed for hours after derailing near Coquille when it struck a log on the track. The engine and box car were wrecked, about 100 feet of track torn up, but all passengers escaped injury due to slow train speed.

Buggy Wrecked Injury Report From Local Runaway Incident

J. H. McDiarmid an insurance man was another victim of a runaway accident this week with a badly broken rig but no injuries beyond that. He had to come into town on the running gear of his buggy after a gale drove the horses through a couped gale.

Woodmen Campaign and Local Industry Notes in Coos County

Myrtle Point hosts Woodmen of the World head officers in October with the first county visit by a national officer. Campaign aims for 50 candidates across North Bend Coquille Myrtle Point with a 30 man Portland squad for initiations in Marshfield and Bandon. Also coverage of local business including a rubber tire shop upgrade in Port Orford and new Dutch investment interest tied to Panama Canal plans.
