Mine Accident Fatal at Riverton McGee Mine

John Turner a miner was killed by a falling rock in the McGee mine at Riverton on Tuesday afternoon. His partner Jim Lee heard the collapse but could not warn him. Turner formerly lived in Grants Pass and leaves a wife and two children. His body was sent to Roseburg for shipment to Coquille Sentinel. John Whobrey of Bissinger Co. will visit Myrtle Point and nearby towns monthly to buy hides at top prices.

Bandon Loses To Myrtle Point In High School Battle

Myrtle Point defeats Bandon 14 to 10 in a regional high school basketball game. Wilson was hurt after the match, and a rematch is planned later in the season to settle the championship. The Myrtle Point team enjoyed a beach trip with 75 supporters, while officials and spectators praised referee Grover Brown’s fair calling of fouls.
