A sheriff in Salem Oregon posted a $250 reward for the recapture of convict Clarke who escaped Monday night by sawing from a prison roof and descending by rope. Clarke, 33, black hair, beard, 170 pounds, 5 feet 11 inches, had been imprisoned since June 5 1913 for burglary from Lane County. He has used alias Mike Burke and Mike Ward. He is considered one of the most desperate inmates and previously served time in Folsom Nevada and other pen housing. Authorities urge tips leading to capture.
