Forged checks lead to arrest of Myrtle Point youth in Portland
Homer Leep, a 17 year old from a good family who recently moved from Myrtle Point to Eugene, was arrested at the Union depot in Portland on a charge of passing worthless checks. He allegedly cashed a $53.25 check at the Blanco hotel in Marshfield and other targeted payments, with Sheriff Stevens taking him into custody after a wire from Coos County officials. The article also notes Woodmen of America funds and various local notices about rail, school funding, and Chamber of Commerce concerns.
