The gasoline schooner Randolph sank on the Bandon bar during a low tide crossing. Three drowned and three rescued include captain Charles Anderson engineer Henry Colvin and crewman Chauncey Carpenter. Carpenter, an expert swimmer, fought the breakers and was saved by Life Saver Roseburg after being exhausted.

Miller announces the Coos Bay Roseburg and Eastern will extend service to Powers next Sunday with Southern Pacific operating the Smith Powers logging road under a wheelage contract from Myrtle Point to Marshfield. The schedule adds morning and afternoon trains between Marshfield and Powers with Sunday through service. Mail delivery may shift later unless arrival can be moved up by 4 PM.
