Frank Ebert of Hammond Indiana regained his hearing after a fall from a stepladder struck his head permitting his deafness to vanish. He had suffered hearing loss for months despite various remedies and now reports normal hearing.
Harry Wilson Jordan aged 19 dies from back injuries suffered in a football game at the county fair in Sioux Falls. The Vermilion University and Sioux Falls Baptist College teams clashed when players collapsed onto him during a pile up. Jordan was the son of Charles Jordan a Sioux Falls contractor.
Des Moines river at Ottumwa Iowa is on a rampage, within a foot of high water. Thousands of dollars in damage already done as water rises. Nearly a mile of sewers and long stretches of road washed out.
Five thousand Chicago teachers through a committee ask the Federation of Labor to organize them. They are displeased at being docked for last Labor day and will present their demands with an ultimatum.

Paris reports Madam Zola is weak yet improving after learning her husband Emile Zola died by gas inhalation. She explains the events surrounding the gas asphyxiation and fainted while observing him. Dr Vibert confirms death by carbon oxide inhalation. Funeral set for Friday.
New York report claims of his leaving the cabinet are denied by Root. He states he is not contemplating stepping down.
Congressman Robert G. Cousins will speak at the Grand Opera house in Muscatine on October 11 to promote Republican policies. Chairman J. C. Coster organized the event, aiming to draw residents from Muscatine city and county and neighboring areas.
Seven Autler family members in Vincennes Indiana lie at the point of death from arsenic poisoning after a bean dinner. Hudson Autler Emily his wife and five children were affected. Alfred and Edward Autler who run a lumber business are among the ill. Ralph the youngest avoided the meal. The case remains a mystery.
AshlandWis Sept 30 The Jones Adams coal dock gave way spilling about 9000 tons of anthracite and bituminous coal into the bay. Dock damage runs to thousands of dollars with an estimated 2000 tons recoverable. Loss placed at 45900.
Fort Riley reports severe weather forces Gen Bates to order the postponement of the convoy attack planned for today. The hospital at the fort is overcrowded due to the conditions.
