Mrs Eliza peth Hefty aged long time West Hill resident died just before 1 today at 933 Lucas Street after a long illness of dropsy. Born Elizabeth Born in Trier Germany February 29 1828 she came to America 1855 and married Martin Nicholas in Louisville Kentucky later moved to Muscatine in 1859 with eight children four surviving Henry Herman Charles and John. She married Jacob Hefty in 1888. he died 1895. She was a longtime member of Zion German Lutheran Church and active in church work.

Workmen on the Canadian side report a man vaulting an iron rail and plunging 200 feet to rocks and spray below near Niagara Falls. The man, Frank J. Parker of Buffalo, a captain in the 74th Regiment, N Y state guard, had been in poor health and has been missing since Wednesday. Police found Parker’s calling cards.
