Two Muscatine youths die in highway crash
Donald E. Jens 19 of 918 East 10th Street and Michael A. Beckey 17 of 1104 Isett Avenue were killed when their 1955 model car rolled over on Highway 61 twelve miles east of Muscatine about 4 a.m. The deaths raise Muscatine county’s 1962 traffic toll to nine. Jens and Beckey were pronounced dead at Muscatine General Hospital. Funeral arrangements and survivors are listed for each family.

Two Keola teens Thomas Flander and Michael Gretner died after their car collided with a gin truck driven by Ken Fulton and rolled over multiple times.
